Meg Ryan plays Kathleen Kelly, the owner of a small boutique bookstore. Her life takes a turn when she struggles to keep her mothers business running when a new rival comes to town. Tom Hanks, who plays Joe Fox, opens that bookstore chain just across Kathleen’s. With their businesses competing, Kathleen and Joe don’t see eye to eye. Despite this, Kathleen and Joe meet each other online, oblivious of each other’s identity, and engage in an online relationship far different from their real life relationship.

After experiencing hurt and unhappiness, Elizabeth goes out of her comfort zone, to learn the feeling of nourishment, the power of prayer and finding peace and balance in her life.

Before the success of her empire, Mangano was a divorced mother, juggling her ambitious dreams whilst facing scrutiny over her divorce. If you’re looking for a biographical film with hints of drama and humour, Joy is the one for you.
4. Midnight diner
Instead of a biographical film, find warmth in a soulful Japanese show, Midnight Diner. Midnight Diner is operated by ‘Master’ in the backstreets of Shinjuku, Tokyo. This unique restaurant brings different customers all coming from different walks of life. Each episode brings in a new dish and a new customer. Despite being in the busiest districts in Tokyo, Master’s interaction with his customers are filled with wise, philosophical lessons that we can all learn from.
Midnight diner is an intimate show, with no judgement towards any of the characters. This show appreciates all the ups and downs of life, with customers all sharing a bond by eating food that makes them happy. One of the most inspiring shows on Netflix, and ones you cannot miss out on.

5. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Walter’s journey is a story of transformation, a man finding courage. The disappointment Walter faces is one we see often in real life. His journey to finding the perfect photo turned his life around for the better. This inspirational movie showcases the power of finding adventure and fulfillment.
Boring routines are something we all want to break, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a great action-packed movie in rediscovering our passions. Walter Mitty, played by Ben Stiller, works at Life magazine. He spends his time working a monotonous routine by developing photos for the magazine. Walter develops a habit of daydreaming to escape his monotonous day. He is ridiculed by his friends and supervisors for this. Walter has also taken a liking to his fellow employee Cheryl, but feels he is not worthy to like her. As the publication of the magazine comes to an end, with one of his photos missing and his job is threatened, Walter embarks on a real action-packed journey to save the publication and rediscover his dreams.
If you’re still struggling to decide which movie to watch, my personal favourite is Midnight Diner. It is a heartwarming series that leaves you with wisdom and life-long lessons. Every episode contains something new and it’ll leave you smiling, laughing or crying of happiness. It is definitely a restaurant you would like to visit for the home-cook food and the company it comes with.
